Sarah Calderon joined Pave Finance in October 2023 as a Senior Software Engineer and currently serves as the Engineering Manager of Pave Labs, LLC., the technology subsidiary of Pave Finance, Inc. Her day-to-day blends technical and strategic leadership, working with engineers to unblock projects, think through architecture, and keep Pave's systems scalable and reliable. She also partners closely with product and business stakeholders to stay aligned on priorities and ensure the team is building toward Pave’s most important goals.
Since joining, Sarah has built out Pave's monitoring and observability from the ground up, reshaping how the team operates day-to-day, from catching issues early to responding faster when something goes wrong. She has also invested heavily in internal tooling and automation, reducing manual work so engineers can focus on higher-impact problems.
Sarah brings nearly a decade of experience across fintech and large-scale technology environments, including engineering roles at HealthEquity and DriveWealth. Her background in site reliability has shaped a pragmatic, hands-on approach to building and scaling financial systems. One previous project that captures this well involved automating workflows for a bulk order logistics team, which reduced a five-hour manual process down to roughly fifteen minutes. This kind of instinct for finding leverage through better tooling reflects what Sarah brings as both a leader and an engineer.
What drew Sarah to Pave was its mission and culture. “Wealth management has traditionally been hard to access and not very transparent,” she says, and she values being part of a team working to change that. The combination of a meaningful problem space and interesting technical challenges made it an easy decision for Sarah to join. She is especially passionate about building teams that are both high-performing and supportive, creating environments where engineers can take ownership, do their best work, and continue to grow in their careers.
Sarah holds a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business from California State University, Chico. Outside of work, she enjoys music, traveling, and crafting projects, and can often be found tinkering with automation tools and ideas on the side.
