Sarah Janie Calderon

Engineering Manager

Sarah Calderon joined Pave Finance in October 2023 as Engineering Manager, working alongside engineers to solve hard architecture problems, build scalable systems, and keep the team moving with confidence. A defining focus of her time at Pave has been building out the company's monitoring and observability infrastructure from the ground up, a foundation that has meaningfully improved how the team detects and responds to issues in real time. Alongside that, she has driven a sustained investment in internal tooling and automation, freeing engineers to focus on higher-impact work.

Sarah brings nearly a decade of experience across financial technology, including roles at HealthEquity and DriveWealth, where she helped build and scale systems in fast-moving environments. Her background in site reliability engineering gave her a systems-level perspective on how teams and technology need to grow together, an outlook she carried into leadership. In one notable example, she automated a bulk order logistics workflow that reduced a five-hour manual process to roughly fifteen minutes.

Sarah studied Computer Science with a minor in Business at California State University, Chico. That mix of technical and business thinking reflects what drew her to Pave: a meaningful problem space at the intersection of technology and financial access, and a mission to make wealth management more transparent and accessible.

She cares deeply about building teams that are both high-performing and genuinely supportive, where engineers can take ownership, grow, and do their best work. Outside of work, Sarah stays curious and creative through music, travel, and various crafting projects, and keeps a habit of tinkering with automation tools on the side.
